Accessibility

The Institute for Human Centered Design’s New England ADA Center ensures that all Information and Communications Technology (ICT) used, developed and maintained exceeds compliance with section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

This web site and in-house technology and technology products created by the New England ADA Center are reviewed by ‘user-experts’. User-experts are people with physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities engaged to test versions of each product (e.g., website, digital information tools, and web courses ).

Their findings are incorporated into the design of the final product. Our ICT design goes beyond the federal requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act by addressing the information and communication barriers not only to people with disabilities but also the usability of aging, literacy, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
